Today we went blueberry picking in Michigan, but of course we were only there for about 45 minutes because it was burning hot out. We only filled one basket, but it was still a lot of blueberries. After my parents had payed, we finally got back to car where there was air conditioning. What a relief!
Next went to a Michigan dunes state park, which is basically a beach except that they had this tall pile of sand which is called a dune. As we were waiting in line to pay for a parking ticket, to get in, we saw a red flag and we didn't know what it meant. As we got closer to the flag we saw a sign that said rough waves no swimming. My sisters were mad when they found out that they couldn't swim, I was too. When our car finally reached the guy, who was selling the parking tickets, my dad asked him if we could still swim even if it was a red flag. The guy said that we could, but we had to stay near the shore and that it was at our own risk. We went swimming anyways because I'm a really good swimmer. It was fun swimming 'cause my sister had a small boogie board so we would catch a ride on the waves when they were right in front of us and the wave would bring us to the shore. Finally we had swam for hours and it was time to go, but there was still one thing that we still wanted to do. We wanted to climb the huge dune. It was really hard climbing up plus the sand was very hot. Finally we reached the top and we patted ourselves on the back for climbing up the dune. My family and I rested at the top for a while before going back down. On the way down I raced my sister to the bottom. I won. The rest of my family was still pretty much at the top and taking their time walking down the dune. When everybody got to the bottom it was time to really leave.
On the way back to Chicago we were really hungry so we stopped at a McDonalds to pick up some food. The bill was a total of $40 dollars my dad couldn't believe it, but after all we did have six people and we had just gone swimming for two and a half hours. When we got home it was only 7:30pm, but we were really tired. That was the end of my one day trip to Michigan. I enjoyed it a lot even though it was only for a day. It was really fun!
