So this is where I confess that I was wrong. Not for the first time, either. A couple of posts ago, I said that there is not enough to do in Chicago, and that we were going to spend the second week of our French visitors visit in Nashville, Tennessee. As it turns out, they didn't want to go to Nashville after all. It's about 8 hours from here, and they are used to traveling one hour to get accross the whole country, since Europe is pretty small. We wouldn't have gone anyways, though. There is so much to do in Chicago that I hadn't realized. This is what we've done so far: The Museum of Science and Industry, The Field Museum, The Adler Planetarium, shopping on the Magnificent Mile, eating out at a variety of restaraunts, introduced them to fro-yo (those poor Europeans don't have the pleasures of the delectable frozen yogurt. I change my mind about wanting to move to Paris; I don't know how I'd survive without it.), took them to a blues bar (my strange experience there was mentioned in the previous post), Millenium park (the bean, those creepy faces that spit out water, etc.), The Art Institute, a little bit of the Air and Water Show, the Indiana Dunes beach, the Sears Tower (or Willis, if you want to be completely correct), we've fed them s'mores upon s'mores (another delicious treat that is very rare in Europe), we've walked along Lake Michigan from the Chicago side, walked down Aster street where all of the rich people live with their gorgeous old houses, one of the days they visited a friend who gave them a tour of Naperville (which has a public swimming pool that used to be an old quarry, so it was HUGE), took a boat tour, went to the Shedd Aquarium, Six Flags Great America ( if you remember from my very first post, which seems like it was just yesterday, I'm not fond of rollercoasters, but the waterpark was great), walked around the city a lot, went to a Jazz club, the Botanical Gardens, a classical music concert in Millenium Park, and I'm pretty sure that's it. So Chicago has a lot more to offer than I thought. We still have so much we wanted to do like Rivinia and the Frank Lloyd Wright tour, but they are leaving on Tuesday, right after the first day of school. I might even have to leave school early so I can say goodbye to them at the airport. I am definitely going to miss them, we've had so much fun together and it'll be wierd not saying "Table for seven" at the restaraunts. At the same time, it will be nice for all of us to return to our normal lives and countries. So au revoir Elise, Louis, and Sylvie, and bonjour my last year at Lincoln Middle School.
