So Saturday was the Doctor Who fall season finale. IT WAS EPIC. The Doctor, his wife, and his companions battled the weeping angels in Manhattan. The weeping angels are basically these alien statues that try to kill you. When you look at them, they will be still, and normally are either crying or showing off their fangs. But when you aren't looking at them, they will run at you and attempt to kill you and turn you into a weeping angel. This basically means that if the lights go out, you're dead. They also have the power to send you back in time by touching you, which is what they were doing quite often in this episode. In the episode, the angels took over every statue in New York, and hid among the New Yorkers, every now and then tempting them to enter a buliding where they were attacked and sucked of their time energy, which they weeping angels would feed on. I won't reveal any more of the episode in case any of you watch it. Now, you're probably wondering about the title of this post and how it corresponds to this paragraph. Well, I love BBC for broadcasting the show and allowing me to indulge in it's awesomeness, but this was the finale of the fall season, and they only put 5 EPISODES IN THE ENTIRE SEASON. Which means that there will not be another episode until Christmas. I have to wait 3 months for another episode!!! What am I going to do on saturdays? Oh well, I'll survive. I hope you all will think of Doctor Who on Christmas!
So, today I felt the need to blog but I had no idea what to write about, so my mind began to wander. I wonder what it would be like to be really small. Like three inches tall. There would be a lot of small spaces that you could hang out in that nobody else would be able to get to. Another huge factor I just thought of is how relative speed is. So, for instance, a person moving at 4mph would probably seem about triple speed to a person of such small size. Also, 1 mile to a normal size person would be extremely elongated to a miniature person. So, it would be difficult to get anywhere really. This thought has really made me further appreciate my height. Well, that's my blog for this week. I feel like this idea could still be further expounded
Last weekend, one of my favorite science fiction TV shows finally primiered it's seventh season. It's titled Doctor Who, and it's about the adventures of a time lord who is the last of his species.(He's not human) He travels through time and space in a time machine called a T.A.R.D.I.S. (It stands for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) while he repeatedly fights off aliens and defends Earth from invasion. The Doctor uses no weapons, the item you see him carrying in the picture above is a sonic screwdriver, which can open any lock, door, or seal. He narrowly escapes death in most of his episodes by outsmarting the enemy and causing their downfall. The Doctor often picks up companions along the way, (mostly female) to keep him from feeling too lonely in his solitude. Most of his companions don't survive with him for very long, some dieing, commiting suicide, or sometimes being trapped in an alternate dimension. Another element that makes the show intereseting though, is that sometimes The Doctor doesn't even survive his adventures.<pause for dramatic effect> You see, The Doctor is a Time Lord, and Time Lords have two beating hearts in their bodies. So, if a Time Lord is killed by a tradional method, such as getting shot, and one of his hearts stops, he will regenerate his entire appearance and personality, becoming an almost completely different person, keeping only his memories with him on his next adventures. This element of the show is also how they have been able to keep it running for so long. Doctor Who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest airing science fiction TV show. Doctor who has been airing on TV since TV came out, and they manage this by every now and then having the doctor die, and be played by a new actor after his regeneration. Doctor Who is an amazing show, and it airs on BBC America every saturday at 8:00pm. If you enjoy a good compex sci-fi, then I highly recommend this show to you. If you want to understand it better, I suggest going online and watching the Eleventh Hour episode, it explains a lot. I applaud your persistance if you have read this far, I hope you found this really long post worth reading. |
