So this weekend, I went to the Cubs V. Mets game. First, we had to walk over a mile from where we parked, because there is absoltely no parking whatsoever near the field. After that, there were probably 3,000 people directly outside the field being stupid and having no idea where to go, because apparently they can't read the giant signs directing people where to go. During the game, no one scored - or even got a lot of hits - until around the 5th inning. After that, the cubs were up by 2. The next inning, they managed to let the Mets get a 2 run homer and another home run. And they lost 4-3. WHY CAN"T WE BE GOOD ANYMORE.

I think we can all agree that food is awesome. Especially when you don't have to make it yourself. Whenever I make myself food, I break something. Usually myself. It doesn't end well. If you haven't realized yet, I'm REALLY good at breaking things. If I took foods, I would legitimately fail the class. I should probably learn to cook and stuff, or else I'm gonna end up weighing around 600 pounds, which wouldn't exactly be convenient.
So last Friday, Courtney and her friends threw a surprise party for me (And Maura technically). But through a series of events that I will not explain in depth here, I put 2 and 2 together and saw it coming. It wasn't very surprising, but it was a great demonstration of how important it is to have your story straight. Either way, It was awesome. We had frozen yogurt, which is basically ice cream plus $2 and the word yogurt. Then we saw iron man 3, which is clearly an action movie since I hadn't seen 1 or 2 and knew exactly what was going on. Then we pretty much just stood around for an hour doing nothing. It was fun. Then I went to sleep, and got up 5 hours later to drive to Ohio. Ill write about that in another blog.
So my birthday is coming up, and I have no idea what to tell people to get me. Whenever I go to stores, I see stuff I want, but I cant afford it because i'm always broke. But starting in mid april, I can never find anything. I end up asking for money and gift cards. If I had actual things I wanted, my presents would be worth about 150% of the value probably. Either that, or people guess and get me stuff I hadn't directly asked for. Thats usually good, but sometimes it doesnt end well. Anyway, I just cant think of anything to ask for until about a week after my birthday. Great.
So, on Thursday, my basement flooded for the second time in 10 years. This time, we didn't have a lot of stuff down there, but there were a few random things. The water only went up a few inches, but that was enough to destroy the carpet completely. We're getting a new one put in right now as I type. There are these really loud fans running. Normally I would be able to explain why I think they have fans running, but I honestly have no idea. Water + fans = no water doesn't make sense to me. But we need to keep the fans on for 3 DAYS. I think we have to keep them on during the night, too. Great. Because I need even less sleep. I've been sleeping until 12 for the past few days, which is just going to add to the insomnia.
People are stupid. It's a problem we all face daily. They mess things up, hold up lines, break things (well i do that to, but thats not the point), drive like idiots (hopefully doesn't end up being hypocritical), ask dumb questions, make dumb remarks, and just generally mess things up. They're quite annoying. If this doesn't happen to you, you're probably one of them. However, I do have a solution. If we systematically get rid of the dumbest people every 10-20 years, the general intelligence of the populous will go up. It's like unnatural natural selection!
Im writing this about an hour before the championship game between louisville and michigan (louisville is going to win). My dad is in michigan, so if they win, he's gonna have a bad time. He also doesnt really like michigan. Anyways, like i said, louisville is going to win. Probably not by much, but i still think they've got this one.
So yesterday, I went to watch doctor who, just to find out that I can't watch it now for some reason. Apparently bbc now uses some stupid HD thing that doesn't actually change much of anything, but it changes just enough to not let me watch Doctor who. Seriously? Now I have to wait until the next day for it to be on demand. It has like twice as many commercials, too. Stupid comcast...
Over spring break, I went to San Francisco. on the plane to and from, I watched 2 seasons of Doctor Who. When we got there, we went to Ghiradelli square and had chocolate. A lot of it. The next day, we went to Muir woods to see the California redwoods. The ones we saw weren't small, but they weren't giant. Still cool, though. After that, we had burgers at a really really good burger place. There are a lot of really good burger places in San Francisco. After that, we went to Alcatraz, which was very interesting. They had audio tours, which made it a lot better. The next day, we went to Hyde Street Pier, which has a bunch of old boats that are really awesome. I'll put a picture on here if I can find one. We also saw the Bay Bridge lights. There is a second bridge near the Golden Gate bridge that is trying to outdo the Golden gate by putting lights on it. We also had dinner at a place called Harrington's. Haha. The next day, we took a cable car to Chinatown and walked around there. Next, we went to Alamo square to see these houses that all look the same called the painted ladies. They are suppose to be all really bright colors, but it didn't really look like it. Disappointing. We also went to the DeYoung Art Museum, which was incredibly boring. The Next day, we walked down Lombard street, which is a curvy, steep street. We walked up to Coit Tower, which has an amazing view of the city. We walked to the Filbert steps, which is inhabited by cats. Next we went to the California Academy of Sciences, which had mostly biology. I don't like biology... . After that we ran back to the hotel room to watch the live episode of Psych. The next day, we took a ferry to Sausalito, which is across the bay. I call it Rich-people-Town. Literally 1 in 2 cars was at least $100k. At least. In Sausalito, we went to the army corps of engineers model of the bay. It used to be used for tests on what canals and things would do to the bay, but then they made a computer program to do that. So now, they just use it as a model for tourists to see. It's 2 acres, and I could recognize almost none of it since it's the entire San Francisco bay and rivers flowing into it. The next day, we flew back for 4 hours, where I watched more Doctor Who.
I thought it was really fun. We saw pretty much everything, so I probably wouldnt go back until I'm 21, but I would recomend that you go there if you can. First, I noticed that they are much nicer there. In Saint Louis, everyone seems to be kind of a jerk. In San Francisco, everyone's very helpful and nice. I'm not sure if its just me, but that's what I noticed.
I also noticed that they are obsessed with their Dungeness Crabs. I'm not totally sure what it is, but there are signs every 50 feet saying something about DONT CATCH THEM or DONT DUMP THE DEAD CRABS THAT YOU CAUGHT. The crab is in like every other dish at most restauraunts. |
