Earlier this week Chris and I had a discussion about 1D, 2D, and 3D objects, so I decided to write something about it myself. First of all, 2D figures do not exist as they are physically impossible, even on paper (Technically). A 2D figure is a figure with a height of exactly 0. Any object, even paper, has a height. It may be incredibly small, but it's something more than 0. Second, even images on screens are 3D. Technically. Pixels have a height, its just something less than .1 millimeters. If you want to get really technical, then I will say that the light in one pixel still has an incredibly small height, but it is a particle so it has a height. Third, points and lines are 1D, and could exist if we made a really really REALLY big coordinate space and then got a really accurate measurement. But we can't. Points and lines exist, but we can't figure them out. To make a really big coordinate space we would have to start at the center of the universe. Actually, we would have to figure out if there is something outside our universe before we did that. Lines also are 1D because they are just a very long stream of ordered triples.
I have absolutely no idea what a 4D object would be. I guess it would be an object that goes across time. I have no idea what that would be. In the comments, tell me what YOU think a 4D object is. I want to see if anyone else has an idea.
