My mom is the one who puts a bandaid on my skinned knee. She's the one who has lemonade waiting when I come in from a long day and she's the one who's there to hold me when everything isn't going so well. My dad is the one who coached me in tee ball, who supports me in everything I do, the one who watches all the hockey games with me. My parents mean so much more to me than I say. They've been married for twenty four years today. I am so happy for them and I aspire someday to be like them. I can't imagine a life without both my parents. I mean, unless your parents are divorced, who can? I can compare them to yin and yang. Recently, I've been studying Taoism because I am on the pursuit of finding a religion to guide my beliefs and although Taoism isn't perfect, I believe I've found the shoe that fits. Yin and Yang is a Taoist concept of two opposing sides working together. The feminine and masculine, light and dark, sweet and sour. My mother is the feminine side and my father is the masculine side and they are complete opposites. I think that's why they work so well together. It's just one of those things that you can't question because it works so well. Happy 24th mom and dad, I hope you make it to 50.
