Although I've pretty much been telling anyone who will listen, some of you still don't know that I'm going to be getting braces on my teeth tomorrow. I'm really not excited. I'll be missing school in the morning but I'm going to come back for my last couple periods. To those of you that have them: any advice? I already bought my sherbert, which is super yummy, and some apple sauce too but I'm just really nervous and some reassurance would be nice. I will only need them for about a year, which is less than most people and I'm happy about that. Yes, I'll have them for Promotion and graduation pictures but I won't need them for sophomore year homecoming pictures or anything like that. Yay! I find it's better to look on the bright side of things because it gives me something to look forward to and something to be happy about. Which brings me to my next point: I happened to be surfing the internet the other day, and I came across a page full of quotes. Not sad quotes, but motivational ones. One really struck me though. "Is what you're living for worth dying for?" Just think of how deep that really is. It reminds me that I need to do what makes me happy and live the life I want to because what is life if you don't love yourself? I happened to click something on the side of this page and came across a not so sweet realization. I'm sure you've all heard the joke about the chicken crossing the road. Well what I found out was that this joke was originally intended to mean death. "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side." The chicken died to reach immortal life. Childhood=ruined. So there's your wisdom for the day everyone!

As an experienced metal mouth, I can assure you that braces are not as bad as they seem. The first couple days or week, depending on how high of a tolerance for pain you have, you will want to go jump in a pool of sharks and put yourself out of your misery. But do not do anything crazy, like trying to rip your braces out, because then they will make you have to get them all over again. After those couple of days of pure torture, you will feel like the braces are part of you teeth. DO NOT use the wax that they'll give you, because it falls out and you might swallow it in your sleep. Also it doesn't help at all and it's good to get used to the pain or else you will depend on the wax forever. Disregard the rules about not eating gum, hard foods, gooey foods, sticky foods blah blah blah. I have accidently broken a spacer in my mouth that my orthodontist said requires 300 pounds of pressure to break just by eating a sucker, and I have yet to harm my braces. For the first month you might want to follow some rules, but after that, YOLO. Also, depending on your orthodontist, they might give you a large bin of things you're supposed to do to floss in between your braces, and all of these other complicated procedures. Don't bother with them. Just brush twice a day and use mouthwas, and you'll be fine. Something to consider: if you don't brush your teeth a lot, which obviously you do, the orthodontist says that when your braces come off, you will have white squares where the braces used to be since the rest of your teeth is covered in plaque. Gross. I'm not sure if they say this just to scare you or not, but I would brush for a minute more than you normally do. Sorry about such a long comment, I just remember how much I was freaking out when I got mine on and trust me it's no big deal at all:) good luck!

Emily its so nice that you wrote all this, thank you!!! I will be sure to follow your instructions. Other than the fact that I just can't fall asleep right now and it's 2 AM, the pain is ok. Because I got my bracket that's farthest back about 3 months ago, I can still chew with my back teeth which makes life easier. Again, thanks!

Emily-- I am wayyyyy to lazy to read ur comment and don't really want to. And Jackie, i don't know what to say to that comment other than stop talking. Hahahaha. But braces are only bad because they cut the inside of your mouth and u get food in them all the time. Use wax and toothpicks. Haha I hate braces and only have about 4 months left!! Good luck Fionna!!!

Like a true friend I read Emily's entire comment. Sorry I don't have any advice for braces but I can tell you something helpful. Don't ask anyone if you look like a who because if they say yes you will feel bad about yourself and if they say no they are lying. Just kidding, you know that right? And Em if you have that much to say make it a post because then you at least get extra credit.
