I am quite frustrated that my original post about Taoism got removed but oh well, I guess I'll write another one. So a couple months ago, my dad introduced me to this little book called The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff. In this little book, many Taoist concepts are interwoven into stories relating to Winnie the Pooh which is easier to understand by most people. Well I'd been doing some soul searching around this time and it just seemed like this religion is what was right for me. So I began to look into it, and it's concepts interested me. Most Taoist followers share the common goal of being one with the Tao which is similar to experiencing Nirvana in Buddhism. They ultimately believe in being indifferent, good people. There is a pantheon of gods, but following them is entirely optional. If you'd like to learn more because I truly am an awful explainer, you can find The Tao of Pooh at pretty much any library. I now follow this religion and I can say that it has made a difference in my life. I stopped wearing makeup, spent more time reading and I am more at peace with myself than I have been this entire year. I am glad I have the opportunity to study this little ancient Chinese religion. :)
