So.....WE WON!!!! My middle school basketball team played our rival middle school earlier to day, and WE WON!!! It was such a great game, and really intense. Both teams played really hard, but I personally think that we just had more skill and talent on our team. The score was tied in the first half at one point, and right then we all knew that we had to play our hearts out if we wanted to win. We came together as a team and wiped the floor with them!! Well maybe not, but we still our best game as a team thus far in the season. In the second half we gained the lead and played really tough defense. Once one of their top players fouled out in the fourth quarter we knew that we could hold them. I am not going to name names but a few of the girls on the other team were pretty pissed off that they lost. They wouldn't even say, "Good game," when we all high-fived each other at the end. A foul was called on this girl on the other team and she fell down during the play. My teammate tried to help her up and reached out her hand, but the girl brushed her off and nudged her on the way up in front of everyone!! I was like, "Seriously?" They definitely do not like to lose. In the last quarter Jay (who is on my team) made a three pointer with almost a minute to go and the score was 21-28. Right after that shot I shouted with joy because everyone knew that we had won. Everyone in that gym knew at that point that we would win. That was by far the highlight of my week thus far. My whole team worked so hard and pushed ourselves in order to succeed, and we did just that. The win felt so good because it was well deserved. We left everything that we had out there on the court, and it payed off. This is how i feel right now :D
So last week my middle school basketball team had their first game! I've been playing on the team since seventh grade, which was when the program began. Our first game was against another local middle school, and we crushed 42-3! The team we played wasn't very good, and I'd say that our team is one of the best in the league. Last year we took third place. I LOVE to play basketball and my team is so much fun! We can never get anything done because we're always laughing, which usually starts from my friend Mary :) Sometimes my coach gets mad because apparently, "We are the most social team he has EVER had in basketball," which sadly I believe. I just had another away game tonight and we won 34-12. We played a team that was a little bit better than the first team, actually a lot better than the first team, but we managed to get a win. On Thursday we are playing our rival middle school. We have two middle schools on our town, so there are also two teams. I am a little bit nervous because my principle made this huge announcement on the intercom about receiving raffle tickets if students come to the game!! I don't want people to come!! IT'S EMBARRASSING!! If I totally air-ball a shot and people show up to see it, I'm going to die! I do think that our middle school has a good chance of winning. Last year we beat them both times that we played them. I think if we all play hard and as a team, we can definitely win. So anyone who is reading this, DO NOT COME TO THE GAME!!!!! I WILL SHUN YOU FOREVER!!!! One last thing, if you what song I'm thinking of you're definitely the coolest person ever....BABY YOU'RE A SONG, YOU MAKE ME WANNA ROLL MY WINDOWS DOWN, AND CRUISE!!!!!!!!! **I'll catch up with everyone on how the game went in a couple of days on my blog!** So like most people in the universe, I had a pretty normal weekend, and week. It all started last Monday with the season finale of Bachelor Pad!! Oh my gosh it was so intense! So basically how the show works is that people from past seasons of The Bachelor and Bachelorette come back to compete for $250,000, and maybe for love. They team up and form couples with everyone in the house(by the way they stay in a gigantic mansion with a huge pool and hot tub and basically anything you could possibly want or imagine in a house). Then they have different competitions and the winners receive roses, which means they are safe from elimination. Then everyone else in the house votes for who they want to be sent home. The one girl and one guy with the most votes are sent home. At the end everyone comes back to vote for who they want the final couple to be, out of the two remaining. So it all came down to (spoiler alert) Nick and Rachel. After the final couple is chosen they are escorted to separate rooms. There they either choose the sign that says "SHARE" of the sign that says "KEEP." If they both choose share, they split the money even steven. If one person chooses share and the other chooses keep, the one that chose keep takes it all. If they both choose keep, neither of them get any money and the money is distributed among the other house members. It is a dirty game, but it is extremely entertaining. In the end, Rachel chose "SHARE" and Nick chose...........................".........KEEP!!!!!!!!!!" I know you're saying to yourself, "NOOOOOO!!!! HOW COULD HE?!?!" Well that's exactly what I said, very loudly too. I was in complete shock. I mean they had discussed previously that they would share it and Nick gave her his word!! I can't believe him, I hate him, I hate him! I feel soooo bad for Rachel though! Michael dumped her (they dated on the show) and all she had left was the money, which was taken from her right under her nose. I love Rachel and I hope she'll be back next season!! Well now that I got that out... I'll talk about my weekend. Oh by the way the Lincoln girls basketball team crushed Chippewa 40-3 on Thursday!!! Whoohoo go Lincoln!!! On Saturday I wen to my godmother's house for a birthday dinner. She is just the best godmother on the planet, I love her to death. The hamburgers, steak, sausages, corn, cake, and salad were all AMAZING!! She is the best cook...she's 100% Greek so she ought to be. Then she gave me my birthday present and she gave me a super duper cute pair of Sperry's!!! I love them and am soooo glad that she bought them for me!! Thank you Nouna (godmother in Greek)!!!! Well I have written an awful lot, and if you are still reading you are an angel. I 'll leave out the rest of the weekend....you're welcome. Have a super week, and remember, laugh at least ten times today!!!! So this past Saturday, September 8th to be exact, was my 14th birthday!!! Oh my gosh I feel so old! But anyways, my mom is in LOVE with Bruce Springsteen, so she had to go to his concert. There was one on Saturday, my birthday, and one on Friday, and being the loving mother that she is she went to the concert on Friday, as to not interfere with my one and only birthday. On Friday I went to the Maine South game and what a blast I had! I always love going to the MS football games because I always have so much fun. Now that my friend's brother is on the varsity team, I will be accompanying her to every home and away game (he's number 55, if any of you see him shout, "GO GREG!!!"). I woke up on the morning of my birthday and I walked downstairs. My mom greeted me with a big hug and a, "Happy birthday!" The next sentence she shrieked, "I TOUCHED BRUCE!!" Apparently my mom, dad, and their friends had very good seats to the concert, which was on Wrigley Field. Bruce ran right by them and stretched out his hand. My mom was still in shock and couldn't pretend any longer that my birthday was more important. My mom and dad gave a brand new CHI flat iron, my brother got me another Vera Bradley tote type bad with a luggage tag in the pattern Twirly Birds Pink, and my grandma got me a locket and a new pair of UGGs. I also got a new North Face, and I think my aunt got me some Costco "fuggs" but I'm not sure. So my dad set up an entire volleyball court in my driveway and my neighbors came over to play. There was some pretty intense competition, mostly because my dad is the most competitive person I've ever met, but it was a lot of fun. Then I headed to whirly ball which is this crazy fun game where everyone is in bumper cars, but they have a lacrosse type stick and you are on teams. You fight for the ball and try to score on a basketball backboard with a little hole in the middle. It really is a blast and the hour that we were there went by like that. After numerous ping-pong, darts and basketball wars I settled down to watch the movie "Act Like a Woman Think Like a Man." It was hilarious!! Oh my gosh Kevin Hart is so funny, I don't think it's possible not to laugh at him. Overall I had a great birthday, one of my best. I can't wait until the next one!!
What a labor day I had this year! So my mom's best friend and her sons come to six flags with my mom, brother and I annually each summer. This year the event happened to of fallen on labor day. I woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather, which I think had something to do with one of my closest friends Anna. Anna and I spent all Friday night together at the Maine South football game, and I found out on the car ride home at midnight that she was sick. I know that it usually takes 48 hours for a sickness or cold to show symptoms after you catch it, so after doing the math I'm pretty sure I contracted my cold from her. Back to this morning, I didn't even want to go to great america anymore, but my mom made me because, "we haven't seen them in forever and this was the only date that worked for them," and a bunch of other reasons that went in one ear and out the other. So I said to myself, "I'm going to an amusement park, how bad can it be?" I bucked up and headed out to Gurnee, IL around 9 am. On the ride up my nose was all stuffy and my throat was dry, but nothing a little gum and country music station couldn't . Finally we arrived at six flags! Yay! My mom bought all four of the kids gold flash passes, which basically let us cut everyone in line and head straight to the ride. Some might say it's unfair, but I'm shaving off hours of waiting time with those passes so I don't care. The first ride we went on was X-Flight, which was my first time on that particular coaster, and I actually kind of liked it! It was pretty quick but it was also entertaining. It reminded me of Superman the ride a lot, but the upside down version of it. Then the boys wanted to go on Vertical Velocity and Giant Drop which I refuse to go on. They look like barf machines! So I waited for them to go on those rides, then we headed over to the Raging Bull! I LOVE this ride. I usually always get scared on the way up, even though I've been on it probably 50 times. The next ride on the list was Batman, and I have bad experiences with that ride. The last time I went on it I puked and got extremely sick. It wasn't pretty. So I opted to sit that one out. After that we headed to Superman, which I have always loved. Next, we were off to the bumper cars. I never pass up a chance to hit my brother with a moving machine, who doesn't? So that was quite some fun. Finally, we headed over to Hurricane Harbor, the huge water park there. Unfortunately, I forgot my swimsuit! But I was actually okay with that because that meant I had some good time to tan. I laid out in the sun for almost a couple of hours, and didn't look in a mirror until I got home later tonight, and man am I red! I didn't wear any sunscreen but wasn't wearing any tanning lotion either, so it was just the sun and my skin. I was happy to get a little color, and hopefully the redness will turn into tan before I know it! Over all it was an excellent day, my cold even settled down! Now I can't wait to crawl into bed and get plenty of restful sleep! |
