What a labor day I had this year! So my mom's best friend and her sons come to six flags with my mom, brother and I annually each summer. This year the event happened to of fallen on labor day. I woke up this morning feeling a bit under the weather, which I think had something to do with one of my closest friends Anna. Anna and I spent all Friday night together at the Maine South football game, and I found out on the car ride home at midnight that she was sick. I know that it usually takes 48 hours for a sickness or cold to show symptoms after you catch it, so after doing the math I'm pretty sure I contracted my cold from her. Back to this morning, I didn't even want to go to great america anymore, but my mom made me because, "we haven't seen them in forever and this was the only date that worked for them," and a bunch of other reasons that went in one ear and out the other. So I said to myself, "I'm going to an amusement park, how bad can it be?" I bucked up and headed out to Gurnee, IL around 9 am. On the ride up my nose was all stuffy and my throat was dry, but nothing a little gum and country music station couldn't . Finally we arrived at six flags! Yay! My mom bought all four of the kids gold flash passes, which basically let us cut everyone in line and head straight to the ride. Some might say it's unfair, but I'm shaving off hours of waiting time with those passes so I don't care. The first ride we went on was X-Flight, which was my first time on that particular coaster, and I actually kind of liked it! It was pretty quick but it was also entertaining. It reminded me of Superman the ride a lot, but the upside down version of it. Then the boys wanted to go on Vertical Velocity and Giant Drop which I refuse to go on. They look like barf machines! So I waited for them to go on those rides, then we headed over to the Raging Bull! I LOVE this ride. I usually always get scared on the way up, even though I've been on it probably 50 times. The next ride on the list was Batman, and I have bad experiences with that ride. The last time I went on it I puked and got extremely sick. It wasn't pretty. So I opted to sit that one out. After that we headed to Superman, which I have always loved. Next, we were off to the bumper cars. I never pass up a chance to hit my brother with a moving machine, who doesn't? So that was quite some fun. Finally, we headed over to Hurricane Harbor, the huge water park there. Unfortunately, I forgot my swimsuit! But I was actually okay with that because that meant I had some good time to tan. I laid out in the sun for almost a couple of hours, and didn't look in a mirror until I got home later tonight, and man am I red! I didn't wear any sunscreen but wasn't wearing any tanning lotion either, so it was just the sun and my skin. I was happy to get a little color, and hopefully the redness will turn into tan before I know it! Over all it was an excellent day, my cold even settled down! Now I can't wait to crawl into bed and get plenty of restful sleep!

Oh Jackie, your day definitely sounds exciting! It really stinks that you felt under the weather, at the very start of the day especially. I'm sure glad that you feel a bit better now though! It's funny, i won't go on giant drop either. We should go to six flags together some time.(:

Oh Jackie... I was can imagine you telling me this story before LA class. Ya know, I used to have the same feelings about Vertical Velocity and Giant drop, and then I faced my fears and went on them. They are awesome! You should really go on them! Hey here's an idea, we can go to Six flags together and I'll go on the rides with you! :)
