I really sad that the year is over. I don't want to leave Lincoln! But instead of writing a long sappy message to you guys about how much I'm going to miss you all I decided to post some of my favorite pictures from the dance! P.S. I would post the picture of me and Dave but then my identity would be revealed to the creeps who read this blog.

My grandma's 70th birthday is on Thursday so me and Laina have been making a slideshow. Since we didn't have enough pictures of her to cover her whole life we asked her for some. Now she has no idea, we just told her we were going to sort them for her. When we came up with this idea we were kind of thinking that it wouldn't be a lot because she doesn't have a camera and hasn't had one for like twenty years. I under estimated just how many pictures she had, there's a huge bin and then a couple smaller boxes. The slideshow is now like six minutes long and we aren't done. It looks really good though and its all set to her favorite Elvis songs. I can't wait to show it to her! Our original plan was going to be give her the sorted pictures back and show her the slideshow on her birthday but time is running short so I think just her slideshow will be done, the picture sorting is still in it's beginning stages. I have been doing a majority of the sorting whcih is hard because I don't know like half the people in these pictures but I did find a really cute one of me and my grandma that I have never seen. We are in a photo booth and I'm almost three (it's dated 9/2001), scroll down to see the picture!
During our past couple classes we have been talking about Winnie the Pooh. This reminded me of my old room. At my old house my mom painted mine and Laina's room like the 100 acre woods and then bought wall stickers of some of the characters. I found some pictures so I thought I would share them. (Top: What my my painted, bottom two: The complete wall with the character stickers)
You are probably thinking "Wait a second, it snowed in Sunday? How did I miss that?" Or you are thinking "That's it, Marisa has officially gone insane". Well it didn't snow and I'm not insane but there were snowballs, at least in my house. The thing is these 'snowballs ' are cookies and they aren't made out of snow we just call them that because we eat them around Christmas and they are shaped like snowballs and covered in powdered sugar. Any way I told my mom for mother's day I was making her deepest for breakfast and whatever age wanted for dessert. She chose snowballs, now I have never actually made them (until Sunday) and I was kind of nervous that they weren't going to be as good as they normally are. What I didn't know before hand is that they are the easiest cookies in the world to make. You literally mix together flour, sugar, vanilla extract, and butter in a bowl and then toss in some pecans. Once they are baked you put some powdered sugar in a ziploc bag with the cookies and shake the bag until all of the cookies are covered in sugar. I have to say they turned out really good, my mom and my grandma were both really happy and my dad bought too many pecans so I have enough to make more!
Luke finally came! He is the cutest baby ever. He has these huge chubby cheeks and a really little mouth. He has the softest hair and he gets scared when he sneezes, its absolutely adorable. He was born on Sunday, cinco de mayo, at 6:30ish in the morning. On Sunday I went to Great America for dance so I didn't get to see him until later that night and then we visited him again after school on Monday. My uncle has been wearing his Darth Vader shirt that says 'Who's your daddy?', but he has yet to say "Luke, I am your father". My cousin, Mark was too young to visit but made a card that said 'Welcome to the world baby Luke ' with what we assume is a picture of my Aunt Debbie holding Luke. The inside is his drawing of the earth which was pretty impressive. The inside also said 'Look on the back for a fact' with an arrow pointing to the back. Its says 1+1=2 with one arrow pointing saying 'this is the fact' and then it just says 'fact' with four arrows pointing to his math problem. I can't find my mom's camera cord right now but I will post pictures as soon as I do. If you really can't wait to see what he looks like try to get into my brain because I can't stop thinking about him. This might sound stupid but every time I think of him I can't help but smile and once I see him I don't ever want to leave. I can't wait to post pictures so all of you can see what I am talking about when I say he is adorable!
I am reading the best book ever! Its called Harry Potter - Page to Screen (the complete filmmaking journey) . Its this huge book that I just happened to see at the library. Its over five hundred pages of how they made each Harry Potter movie, how they cast the actors, how they made the sets, how they made all of the creatures, how they made the costumes and everything thing else that goes into making a movie. The only problem is this book is massive. I can't read it for more than half an hour at a time because I lose blood flow in my legs, that's how heavy it is. (Just as a visual it makes our math books look small.) I actually lied there is another problem with this book, its new so the library only lets you keep it for two weeks and you can't renew it. Again this book is over five hundred pages, there a lot of pictures but the pages are huge so they take me a long time to read. I have this book only until Thursday so I think I'm going to do a lot of reading in the next couple of days.
If you remember or go back to my very first post its about my uncle's wedding, now we are waiting for his baby to be born. I feel like its been forever, the baby was due Saturday but he's not here yet. Oh I forgot to say that we already know its a boy and he is already named Luke. My uncle picked out this name because he wants to sayy "Luke, I am your father". He's a big fan of Star Wars and he wanted to name him after a character, my aunt thought Luke was the most normal. Now the boy cousins on my mom's side will be Mark, Luke and John all we need is a Matthew and we would have all of the gospel writers of the Bible. I thought that was kind of funny because if I was a boy I would have been named Matthew.Anyway I'm really excited and I will post a picture as soon as I can.
Yesterday I volunteered at Su Casa, which is almost like a shelter for Hispanic women. Su Casa lets these women live with them for a year, they give them food, send their kids to school and help them look for jobs. Anyway my church was trying to get some people to go over there to paint, wash windows, plant flowers and thongs like that. We went with my family friends and we all wanted to kind of stay together so all of the girls decided that painting the dining room chairs while the boys painted the dining room walls. Now there are seven of us girls, but more like five because two of my friends aren't much help. There were fifteen or so chairs so we thought it would take us about two hours, we were very close on our guess, it was about an hour and fifty minutes in when the Su Casa lady was like "Oh I found these in the back, I completely forgot". She brought in eight chairs. Then another four. I kind of wanted to hurt her. We were all ready for a break, considering it was lunch time and we probably lost many brain cells smelling that paint. We ate but then got right back to work, we were doing pretty well until everyone else finished their jobs. This group of ladies probably in there thirties wanted to help us, this was perfectly fine with us but the problem was they were super slow. In the time me, Laina, my mom and my friend Annie would get three chairs done the five of them would get one done. Even though I probably lost many brain cells from smelling paint for three and a half hours it was nice to know that so many people would love the grayish blue chairs that we painted. They looked really nice, they had been all mismatched when we got there and the all matched perfectly when we left. It was a satisfying feeling and definatly a productive way to spend my day.
As the end of the year gets closer and closer I realize how weird time is. We only have about a month and a half of school, month and a half can be looked at as a lot or just a little. If you consider a month and a half away from your family or stuck in the Andes it could be a long time. But if you put it into comparison with the school year or your entire life its not that much. Sometimes I feel like this time is speeding by me and sometimes I feel like its going as slow as it can go. When time seems to be going fast I freak out because there are so many things I still have to do before the school year is over but when time is going slow I try to get these things done. For example I have to practice now flute and piccolo, I will be playing them both in my last band concert ever, our band trip to Washington and Roosevelt, and the school assembly. This wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't have a piccolo solo in the song that almost every knows like the back of their hand. I also have three dances I have to perfect for not only my dance recital but a performances at Six Flags, the Allstate and the Taste of *insert the name of our town*. As you can see I have a lot on my plate and when its all over I am really going to need a break.
