My grandpa and grandma were getting a room ready for my soon to be cousin, since they are going to be babysitting him they need a room with a crib and changing table and stuff. In that room previously was my great grandmother's vanity. In case you don't know what that is, its a little desk looking thing that has a mirror. My grandpa didn't know what to do with it because they don't have space for it any more and he thought my mom might want it. We were talking about this at dinner a couple of weeks ago and I asked if I could have it. There was this little bookshelf that I didn't use and was going to give to my dad to bring to work anyway so I had the space for it. It is the cutest thing ever! It was bought by my great grandma since at least 1942 so the wood is fragile and it has some splits in the wood but I love it anyway. We couldn't fit the mirror that goes with it in my room so we need to get a different one and we also need to make a little cushion for the stool but once we do I will post a picture.
All of our home videos were recently put on to DVDs because they were all on VHS but we don't have a VHS player any more so I haven't seen these videos in at least three years. We decided to watch them the other day because we were all feeling like we didn't want to do anything. Honestly I don't know how my parents didn't go crazy when I was little. We watched the part of the video that was when me and Laina were three and I was the most annoying kid ever. I was loud and kind of demanding and at some points I think I should have been put in a mental hospital. Also I realize how much Laina is right, I do look like a little Asian boy. Anyway I feel like on the video I was always talking loud and I would always make my dad flip the little box where you could see yourself being recorded. My mom claims I wasn't like that all of the time but I don't know how she put up with me when I was. Also I was a little strange, there is this one clip where me and Laina are painting pumpkins and my dad is asking Laina a question but I'm whispering to myself so my dad asks me what I'm doing and I tell him I'm talking to my pumpkin. Then he asks "What is your pumpkin talking about?" And I say "Well he's sleeping now." I say this like "Duh why wouldn't he be sleeping?" Its funny now but if that was my own kid I would be a little worried. Besides for the fact that I got to see how obnoxious I was it was also fun to see every one else. My uncle, for example, had these really funny glasses, my cousin John had a Boston accent for no reason (he lived in Chicago and both of his parents were born and raised in Chicago), my cousin Shannon had a terrible haircut and my friend Joanna was a newborn baby. It's weird because all of that stuff was over ten years ago, which some people say is like nothing, but for me, being fourteen, that's a long time.
I don't know why I haven't blogged in a while because I have a ton of things to blog about I just haven't gotten around to writing them. For example I haven't made my what makes me happy list and a ton of other things that for what ever reason I haven't blogged about it yet. So expect some blogs from me because I have a lot to say and I'm not doing a whole lot over break, so I have a lot of time to blog.
Over the weekend I helped out for the V-show at Roosvelt. The Roosevelt V-show is the best, its kindergarten through fourths grade students singing versions of songs that most people know in really cute costumes and then the fifth graders put on short skits in between the songs. I loved V-shiw so much when I was at Roosevelt and I realize how much I miss it now. Anyway each group has the oppurtunity to get their makeup done and hair sprayed before they go on stage, this is where I was. I can't do makeup for the life of me so I stuck to hair spray. Its really simple because all you have to do is ask them what colors they want out of the six or seven different ones and then ask them how they want it sprayed. Normally its just whole head one color, half one color half another, stripes or polka dots but thus year we could do more because we had these awesome hair stencils. Now we could do hearts, stars, zig zags and words. Also this one girl came up with the idea to do this rainbow thing that looked really cool. This was all so much fun because I was there with my friends, I was back at my old school and even though I had to deal with some obnoxious kids most of them were adorable. Overall I had a lot of fun and I hope I can go back and help at next year's V-show!
