This past weekend I enjoyed a wonderful camping trip. The fun started on Saturday morning, when i left my house, in my small, black Jeep. At the time i was rather excited, seeing that I was finally able to leave Illinois again for the first time since spring break. After a long car ride of watching corn, and highway, and more corn, i arrived at a campground in "tropical" Wisconsin. As soon as I got out of the car, my friend Steffan who i met there, suggested we go on a bike ride to a very colorful part of the forest. He was right, it was very colorful. The leaves ranged from a light-lime green, to a dark forest-y color. The bark; soft shades of white and brown. Pastel orange and red pine needles coated the forest floor. It was beautiful; perhaps the most beautiful thing I've seen in quite some time. Being in the midst of such fascinating nature was just great. Later that same day, the sun slowly faded into the horizon, and we decided to play cops and robbers in the sea of such trees. The game was exciting and fast-paced. However, half way through the night my legs were already full of blood from diving into thorn bushes. I kept playing until everything went dak, and suddenly it was morning. I woke up on the floor of a cold, damp tent, with birds cheeping in the background. My back hurt from sleeping on the ground, but I didn't mind; it was all part of the camping experience. That day, I ate breakfast cooked over a fire, went to church, kayaked, and played capture the flag. The weekend continued like this for two more days, two more typically laid back days. I had such a good time hanging out with friends and family, bike riding, and relaxing, that the weekend went by in a heartbeat. Monday morning I awoke again, to the sounds of nature: winds drifting, birds cheeping, and the distant sound of fire crackling. It had been a great time, but it was time i journey back on over to my house. We packed the car, swam, and headed back here to little Illinois, after getting a quick Carmel Macchiato at a local coffee shop. Relaxation, exercise, time with my some of my favorite people, and a little fun were all i needed, and my last camping trip definitely gave me what Iwanted. In a word, my camping experience was, well, perfect. :)
