Earlier today I had a lot of fun marching in the Memorial Day parade. I woke up at 7 a.m. to start the day. I quickly got ready and soon I headed off to Cosa Linda hair studio. The reason I did this was because I was getting my hair and makeup done so I could be in the parade! I needed to dress like I was from the 50's because that was the style they wanted. I was able to do this because my mom is very good friends with the owner at the hair studio. They started with my makeup as soon as I got there. It was really cool getting my makeup done because I've never had it done professionally before. I even had my face airbrushed! I had on fake eyelashes and bright red lipstick! Once they finished my makeup, it was time to move on to my hair. My hair was curled into loose waves and one side was pulled up with a very pretty barrette. Next, we headed over to the starting place of the parade! We waited outside because we were a little early, and I was freezing cold. Luckily, the parade started soon. I got to sit on the back of a red convertible! It was so cool! I also got to hold a little dog named Tiffany for the entire parade! Her tail was dyed pink and her nails were painted pink. She had to be wrapped in a shirt because it was so cold and she was shaking. Although, I was probably shaking just as much as she was. I saw a lot of people I knew and I threw Salt Water Taffy to everyone! I had so much fun today and I hope I can do it again next year!
Today I had a lot of fun working on my science project. Fionna and Lucy came over and we went right to work on our project. Well, we procrastinated a little and then we started. We needed to do some research first and figure out what information we needed. We were doing a video about the element sodium. We soon figured out what we needed to do with our project. We were going to make a video and base it off of "speed dating." We started filming in my basement. We had crazy costumes and funny characters. Lucy played sodium and Fionna and I switched off playing other characters. It took a few takes for each scene, but we were able to finish the filming by the time they needed to leave. Unfortunately for me, I get to edit the whole thing by Wednesday. However, I am a fantastic editor and I love making videos and movies. I can't wait to start the editing process, but I'm even more excited to see how it turns out!
I cannot believe it's finally here. Hawkette tryouts are this week. I am spending all weekend preparing myself so I don't become too nervous. There are clinics on Monday and Tuesday for two and a half hours. These are the days we learn the dance. I am going to drill the dance over and over until I can do it backwards, upside down, and in my sleep. Wednesday is the big day. This is the day of the actual tryout. Starting at 4:45, we will go in the dance room 3 at a time and perform the dance. Along with the dance, we will need to show our splits, turns, and jumps. I'm nervous about the jumps because my knee is still in pain. Hopefully, I'll be able to push through the pain, no matter how much it hurts. I know of at least 18 girls my age who are trying out. This is a little scary because only 9 girls are leaving. Maybe they will make the teams a little bigger. My goal is to make the Varsity team. I've been working so hard for the past three years and I'm hoping that all this work will pay off. If I don't make Varsity, I will be upset, but JV isn't a bad team either. I know that I need to walk into that tryout with no doubts in my head. I'm hoping to be so confident that I don't even feel butterflies in my stomach. Well, I'll blog about the results next week! Wish me luck! (:
Yesterday was a very eventful day. My brother is in his school chorus and yesterday they did a little competition called "Music in the Parks". Early in the morning , he left to go sing with his chorus. Luckily, I didn't have to get up as early as him. I woke up around 8:15 and started to get ready. Once it was time to go, I went to go pick up my friend Alison. It was a long car ride, but finally we arrived at Six Flags Great America. We were there about 45 minutes before the park opened, so we waited and waited. Soon, I regretted not wearing a heavier jacket. It was very cold outside. Alison saw somebody she knew in line, and we talked to him for awhile. It helped us forget about the long wait. Finally, the gates opened and we were let inside. The first thing we needed to do was to get our picture for our season passes. It took much shorter than we had expected. Then, we went on the Viper, our first ride of the day. It was so much fun. We slowly made our way around the park, but Alison was a little scared of some of the rides. She told me to make her go on the biggest rides. Luckily for me, she didn't need much persuading. She went on everything without me pushing her to ride. We stopped for lunch and we had pizza. I was surprised at how good the food tasted. Little by little, we rode every big ride in the park. While waiting in line for the Superman, it started to rain. Many people got out of line, but we stayed where we were. This caused the line to move up dramatically. Of course, not long after, there was ice falling from the sky. I don't want to say it was hail, because it was a mix of snow and hail. That only lasted a few minutes. Later, I bought a sweatshirt because I was absolutely freezing. I even started shaking a little. I saw a number of people I knew there, which was really fun. I had an amazing time and I hope I get to go back soon. When I got home, my mom and I watched the movie Safe Haven. I cannot express the feelings this movie gave me. I love this movie with everything I have. I think I have an unhealthy obsession. I need to watch this movie again sometime soon or I might just explode. This movie has been the only thing on my mind the past 24 hours. I will buy the DVD so I can watch it over and over and over as many times as I please. Seriously, you don't know the feeling I have inside while thinking of this movie. I could go on and on about Safe Haven, but in an attempt to keep your head from imploding, I will stop here and keep my feelings to myself.
Recently, I've been having pain in my knee. At first we had no idea what it was. We went to the Physical Therapist and she did a screening. She wasn't sure what it was either. She recommended an orthopedic doctor for me. First I went to my regular doctor, but nothing really came from that. Then I took a trip to the orthopedic doctor. First they asked me a bunch of questions about the pain level and what I could and couldn't do without pain. Then, they took an X-Ray on my knee. I had to stand in some strange positions. One of the positions made me feel like I was doing the running man. Also, during the X-Ray, I got to wear some pretty fashionable shorts. Once I was back in the room, I got to look at my X-Rays. It was a little weird looking at my own bones. The doctor said that there's no obvious damage, which means nothing's broken. I also got to see my growth plate. Turns out I have a very minuscule amount of growing left to do. Anyway, because she couldn't see any damage, she said that it is probably a bone bruise, as a result from the terrible bruises I had earlier this year. Bone bruises aren't exactly bruises, but they are very, very tiny breaks in the bone. They can take a long time to heal. Luckily my knee isn't in crazy amounts of pain. My mom talked o my gym teacher, and she explained my situation. I only have a note for a week out of gym. My teacher said that because we are doing track and field and softball, I can pretty much take the rest of the school year off gym. I can't run on my knee, so I guess that's pretty reasonable. The only thing I am worried about is Hawkette tryouts. I'm nervous that my knee won't be better by the time tryouts come around. Even if it does hurt, I'll have to force myself to push through the pain, no matter how bad. Well, now you know more about my injury and how it affects me.
