I love summer. I love being able to go outside and do whatever I want for however long I want to. It's so nice being free from school and having to learn for seven hours a day. On the other hand, I absolutely hate winter. I like winter for the first few weeks up until the end of winter break, and then the next three months, I think, are awful. It's cold, dreary, dark, and I have to stay cooped up in the house a lot. Now that we are nearing the end of the second trimester and the end of February, there is only a little bit of time until we can officially end winter and enter spring. Once we get into spring, baseball starts, basketball and hockey start to get into the home stretch and are nearing the playoffs, and we start having days that are much longer than they were during winter. The weather is warmer, and we don't have to worry about putting on enough layers to stay warm when we are outside, and soon after that, the pool opens, which pretty much marks the end of the school year, but for right now, all I can do is wait and hope that warm weather will so
On Saturday, I got my application letter from St. Ignatius, and I am very happy because I have been accepted. Now, I have to do a whole other application process that seems very confusing so I can secure my spot for next year. I also have to take a placement test sometime during 8th grade to determine what classes I will be taking my freshman year. On a completely different topic, the Blackhawks won again last night against the Los Angeles Kings, 3-2. This was an important game because the Blackhawks have played 15 games so far, and each time they have played, they have garnered at least one point in the standings. You can get a point in the standing by either winning a game in regulation, winning a game in overtime/shootout, or losing a game in overtime/shootout. The NHL record for getting at least one point in a game to start a season is 16 games. This record was set during the 2006-07 season by the Anaheim Ducks. They also won the Stanley Cup (the championship) that year. The Blackhawks have their next game on Tuesday when they try to tie the NHL record. They will be playing the Vancouver Canucks at home, and if they do not lose that game in regulation, they will try to set a new NHL record when they play the San Jose Sharks at home on Friday.
A few weeks ago, I blogged about one of my favorite shows, Burn Notice. The other T.V. show that I love watching is Hawaii Five-O. This show is about a special police/task force in Hawaii (pretty obvious). The show is on every Monday at 9 P.M., and I am the only person in my family that really enjoys watching it. Every week, the Five-O task force is trying to solve a new major case, and they also face personal problems that can come up during the show at any time. This show is based off of another Hawaii Five-O that was on the air in the 60's, 70's, and briefly in the 80's. My dad really enjoyed watching it as a kid, and now he has the rest of the family hooked on watching the original whenever we can. He has C.D.s for all twelve of the seasons, and we love watching them. My dad, mom, and sister do not like the new version because they say that the original show is much better than the new one.
So, on Friday, I was on YouTube when I saw this video called 10 Million Point Shot Dude Perfect. It seemed interesting, so I clicked on the link. What I saw amazed me. There was this group of five guys who do crazy trick shots, and during this video, Dude Perfect made a handful of crazy shots at an airport, including a hook shot by one of the people in the group while he was in the cockpit of an airplane, and the 10 million point shot was a shot made by one of the guys when he was jumping on the trampoline did a full front flip and while still in midair, made a shot over one of the wings of an airplane. One the side of the video, there was a list of suggested videos all made by Dude Perfect. One of the videos was with Johnny Manziel (who I blogged about a while ago), a video where they were on different indoor trampolines and they were making crazy shots and dunks, and one was where they were making crazy shots on the Texas A&M baseball field. It seemed amazing to me how they could throw the ball so far with that much accuracy, and was by far the coolest thing that I watched that day.
