There is an actress and her name is Ariana Grande and I love her. She is really funny and pretty, but the thing that I love most about her is her hair. Her hair is naturally dark brown, but f you haven't seen her hair recently, she has bright red hair, but it is a sort of fake red. You could also look at the picture on this blog. In this picture is when she had much darker hair, and at the end of this blog is a picture of her brighter hair. Anyway, ever since I saw Ariana I always wanted her hair. The first time I saw her I was like 9 though, so my mom wouldn't let me die my hair, which is reasonable. But, as you know, I went to a Northwestern, and my mom made a deal with me. She told me that if I pass my class at Northwestern that she would think of something for me to do so that I could earn the money to die my hair. I passed the class, so about a week ago, my mom said that I could die my hair this Friday. I was so very very very excited. She called up my friend's mom and I got an appointment. I had been nervous all week leading up to it, but I was also so excited and I just couldn't wait! But I had to. So on Friday, I looked at the clock so much. I got more excited and nervous period after period. Finally, tenth period was over and I sprinted outside to go to my friend's house. We walked there after school and her mom started right when we got there. It took a very long time of just sitting and waiting. Once she finished, it looked great! But, I wanted it a little more rad. I'm a little picky. Then, we had to do it again. After the whole process was finished two hours later, I LOVED IT. I'm really glad I did it and I am so thankful that it turned out OK and that my friends and family love it, too!
So, this is sort of a positive rant about The Hunger Games. I recently finished the last book in the series. The series was very good as a whole serious, but each book got worse by a little bit. None of them were terrible, but the third one lacked a little bit. I felt like the author didn't know what to do with some of he characters, so she killed them off for no apparent reason. I know that the author had gotten a lot of complaints about the first two books and that they were disturbing and that the author was sick-minded, but I never really agreed with that until the third book. I felt as though some parts were very disturbing and too graphic. But, the third book did have really good closure and a very unexpected ending, which I will not reveal on here. After I finished all three books I watched the first movie. It was really good compared to the book. I feel like they did a really good job even though some of the characters were not as I pictured them... Peeta especially. But, even though he didn't look the part, he really felt the part. Which was awesome. They left out some minor details that made the Games a little creepier, but it would've been hard to explain them, so it was ok that they left that part out. I am so very excited for the second movie. I saw the casting list, and I think that they did a pretty good job! I hope that they do the second movie justice because it was so good. I am a little nervous though because someone else is directing the second one that the 1st one. I think that it will be OK though, since most of the original actors are still in it. I would love to here other people's thoughts on The Hunger Games!!!
This weekend seemed like a normal weekend for most people. It wasn't long, no holidays big holidays, but it was actually very special for me. This weekend some family from my dad's side came into town. They drove about 7 hours to get to Chicago from Sheffield, Iowa. It's quite the drive, so I was thrilled that they were willing to do it in order to stay here for only a couple of days. But, even before they came, I got to do something special that I thought was really cool. I got to go to my dad's work and help him out. He works for a band called Wilco and they are going on tour soon, so I got to go help my dad get ready and prepare everything for the tour. I got to meet some cool people, too. After a hard day at work we went home and my Iowa family was already making themselves at home in our apartment! I was so excited to see everyone. Right away we ordered a pizza, watched The Hunger Games, and laughed or butts off. All of us had a big day, so at the end of it, we all crashed pretty hard. It was actually kind of funny because if you just walked in and explored the apartment, there were various family members sleeping in weird places all throughout the house. The next morning we woke up bright and early to go shopping in downtown Chicago. I found this activity special, which is strange because I live here. Funny how it takes people from out of town to get you to do something in your own city! We wanted to get out of the house at around nine o'clock, but everyone took a really long time to get ready, so we ended up leaving at about ten-thirty. We got into the city at about eleven-thirty, and everyone was hungry, so we decided to stop into The Cheesecake Factory for an early lunch. We all made he mistake of ordering HUGE meals, so we were too full to get cheesecake for dessert. My whole family was almost too full to walk, but we toughed it out and made our way over to H&M and some other stores like that. We bought some pretty cool things, like a hat I bought that I ended up wearing right after we got out of the store. After that we decided to walk to Millennium Park. We then realized that it was about 11 blocks away, and we had all been there before, so we decided to shop some more before we had to leave. We would have had more time to walk over to the Bean, but we got sidetracked by one of those "Tin Men" wearing all silver and silver paint. Once he stopped moving for a little, we started moving over to Water Tower Place. We bought some cool stuff in there, and even got frozen yogurt! Yummy!!! Our last stop was the Hershey Factory. We got some stuff for my little cousins back in Iowa, we got extra long Twizzlers, and a customized Hershey bar! After we were all chocolated out, we headed back to my dad's house. We packed up our stuff because my mom was coming to get my cousin Isabelle and me so that we could sleep over at my mom's house. We went out to a really cool sushi restaurant where your sushi comes to you on a boat. We go there every year as a sort of tradition. Then we went back to my mom's house and watched some TV and then went to bed. We were so very tired! This morning my family came to pick up Isabelle after a nice visit and breakfast of bagels and cream cheese. Now I'm doing my homework and realizing that this blog is way too long, but I have one more thing to say. Tonight is Rosh Hashanah, a Jewish holiday, and I'm very excited! This is my first blog, so here goes. For years I have been searching for a sport that I am truly passionate about, and I think I may have found it. Last year I tried out for Lincoln's girls volleyball team. I hadn't practiced much previous to the tryout, and I had never played on a team in my life. I barely made the volleyball team. Even though I was on the team, I didn't get much playing time due to my lack of experience. I know that if I want to make the team again this year I will have to work my butt off and train a lot before tryouts. My family helped me look for a good volleyball coach so that I could train with a coach to get better. My step sister also plays volleyball, so we started taking private lessons at Energy Volleyball. I have volleyball every Tuesday and I have had 2 training sessions so far. I really enjoy going and after to only 2 sessions I can already see improvements in my playing! Our coach works us so hard with multiple bumping, setting, and spiking drills. Sometimes I get so worn out during volleyball that I just want to quit and sit down right there in the middle of the court, but I know that I can't and I just have to keep pushing myself to get better. Last week's session was especially tiring. It was about 85 degrees outside, and inside Energy it was about 90 degrees. We did mostly spiking drills which is a lot of running and jumping, and on top of that we had to do 50 jump ropes on two feet, 10 jump ropes on your right foot, and 10 jump ropes on your left foot in between each drill after we ran to shag all of the balls we hit. After we shagged the balls , we had to run to one side of the court, bump a ball, run back, bump a ball and repeat that about 30 times. We also did various serving drills and every time we missed, we had to do 10 push-ups. It was all VERY hard work, but even though I was hotter than I ever thought I could be, and sorer than I was after hiking a mountain in Alaska, I have to admit. It is really fun. I can't wait to see how our coach wears us out this week. I'm really looking forward to it. After all, I'm working so hard, and I know it is going to pay off in the end. Why wouldn't I be excited?!?!
