So Mrs. DLP has asked me to post a picture of my adorable Dickens Village. So here it is!!! I don't have the whole collection, that would be like thirty houses at least. My dad's side of the family has the collection spread through all of the family members, we all have a little section/piece. I think this might be my favorite Christmas decoration. It is just so cute and when I was younger I remember I would play with all of the pieces and people and pretend like they were going places. I love that Dickens Village, especially when it is lit up at night. It gives me a magical feeling and it just makes me so happy!! :) I am sooooo ready for break to begin!! We all deserve these two weeks off and I am going to savor every waking, and especially sleeping, moment. I am going to wear this really cute black dress tomorrow for fancy day and I can't decide if I should straighten or curl my hair. I think I'll just straighten it because that takes less time. So it's settled, straight hair for Jackie. Now I just don't know if I should wear heels or not. I don't want to seem like I'm trying too hard but those are like the only shoes that really compliment my dress! I'll just wear them, but just know that I'm not trying to hard to look good/fancy. Okay, I can't wait to see how everyone looks tomorrow...ESPECIALLY Emily with her straight hair!!! AHHHH!!! It's going to look amazing...can't wait!!!
So here is my Christmas tree. Just saying, this picture does not do it justice. Well actually it's not as cool as I thought. My dad and brother went to the Community Center parking lot place to get it and when they got it they couldn't tell how fat it was because it was all wrapped up. Once the branches came down we realized it was the fattest tree we've ever had. It doesn't even fit through our door anymore!! I take full responsibility for the ornament placement. I think I did a pretty good job. My brother got a little mad though because I put all of my ornaments in the front and his in the back, but hey, if he put them up then he could choose where they go. You probably can't see but there are some ornaments that my brother and I made when we were in preschool and they have our pictures on them and there is the cutest picture of my brother! He had big chubby cheeks and oh my gosh it's so cute! I LOVE decorating the tree. I remember all of the ornaments I love and who got us which ones. Each ornament brings back a happy memory and it makes me so delightful. In case you haven't noticed my tree is also unusually short this year, I'm thinking next year I better come along to make sure we pick a good one, for the first time. (Love that song by the Script!) Everyone better get in the holiday spirit because I totally am and you know that I will be bugging you with Christmas songs until the end of break!! Okay so I just went to my cousin's art show at Wheaton College in Wheaton of course, and it was awesome. She had a trip to Uganda a little bit ago and some orphan kids drew her some pictures. They were really cute and she was instantly inspired by them. So she sort of replicated them on to blocks of wood to be like stamps. Then she found used cloths that are like sheets and died them different colors. She mixed paint or ink or whatever and used the blocks of wood to stamp on images to the canvases. It was honestly so cool she is one of the most art talented people I know, I think she might be more talented than Mr Deines. I know what you're thinking, wow this girl must be good. She's graduating in December and gets to work in Sweden!! I am jealous!! Her last name is Jaderholm, and in case you didn't know that is a very Swedish last name. She has made everything art related from paintings to drawings to clay work; she does it all. I hope I can see some of her art projects again soon because I LOVE going to see art. I really enjoy it and some people say that The Art Institute of Chicago is boring and what not but I find it super cool. It's pretty awesome some of the things that people can make and I enjoy having them shared with me. Bottom line: appreciate the art around you because it truly is beautiful.
Mmmmmm....The scent of warm cookies and fresh pine are the ones that fill my house right at this moment. My mom is knocking out all of our holiday cookies and let me tell you, I think I've gained like five pounds from them. They are AMAZING. She made shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate, lemon ricotta cookies drizzled in a yummy glaze and regular chocolate chip. She is on full Christmas mode today. Next weekend she said there are many more to come....thank you mom!!! I love you for giving me sweet sweet cookies!! I just got my Christmas tree from the Indian Scout sale at the community center. It smells soooo good!! I LOVE the smell of a fresh Christmas tree, it fills me with the greatest joy. Now I don't know when my mom is going to put the lights and all of our ornaments on it, I'm thinking sometime tomorrow but as soon as we get that done I will definitely post a picture. Everyone else better post a picture of their Christmas tree and then comment on a blog I will write for whose is your favorite...that could be fun right? Well I'll see what your thoughts are at school. I think I just heard the oven timer go off, which means another fresh batch of cookies!!! YUMMY!!! Got to go stuff my face with Christmas awesomeness.
Last night my family and I went over to my brother's godmother's house. It was really fun because he family is super funny and her daughter makes me laugh :) So they surprised us with a "fun" craft. It was a gingerbread-making contest. Yeah! So excited! Not really....None of the boys wanted to do it so it was me and Alexa(her daughter) against my mom and Cindy(my bro's godmother). Alexa is this crazy amazingly talented artist, like better than Mr. Deines good. I can't believe how good she is, I thought her colored pencil drawing was a ligit picture. So we basically knocked it out of the park. My mom's gingerbread house kind of fell apart and it was really funny. In case you didn't know, my mom is artistically challenged. The best part was eating the frosting. The frosting we used was like the best frosting I've ever tasted and I ate like half the bag. Then I got a stomach ache but it was definitely worth it. We opened gifts for Christmas(I know it's early but we couldn't meet up any other time) and they got me a Vera Bradley lunch box along with some cute jewelry form A.E. Little did they know that I already have two Vera lunch boxes but I guess three is the charm. I'll probably just return it and try to find something that I don't already have. Hahaha for those that remember my mom and I are obsessed with Vera Bradley. There's our g-bread house...isn't it cool?!?! Those icicles are detailed with sugar to make it look realistic, that is if you couldn't already tell. Alrighty well I'm done so everyone have a fantastic week and I |
