Since about the end of November I feel like I have been super busy. I really needed winter break because I was so run down and now I'm run down again because of everything that I'm doing. I realize that this is true for a lot of people and to you my life might seem relaxed but to me it definiatly isn't. This week imparticular is going to be extremely busy. This started Monday with school. I had so much homework (which is why this post is late) and little time to do it. I had volleyball try outs right after school and then right from try outs I went to dance and then came home around 8. Most of the time when I come home from dance on a typical Monday I am exhausted but with the added try out I was so beyond tired. I am not a normal middle schooler in the sense that I go to bed before 10 most of the time but on Monday's I feel like I can fall asleep at 8:15. I am also not normal because it freaks me out when I am doing homework after about 6. I am a morning person so it takes me twice as long to do my homework if I am working past six so I was panicking. Yesterday I was so tired because I woke up earlier than I wanted to because of Laina's alarm that is the radio blasting at six even though she doesn't wake up until seven. Yesterday after school I didn't have a whole lot of homework but I had my flute lesson which made me get all paniced for the stupid solo and ensamble night that I didn't even want to do (Don't tell Mr. Jacob!) After that I had dinner and went to CCD to take the Confirmation test that I completely forgot about. Today I had to wake up for band, so I lose even more sleep. Thursday is my catch up day because I don't have anything after school on Thursday and I sleep in because I don't have band and I buy my lunch. Friday I get up for band again and I am doing something after school but I can't remember exactly what it is. Saturday I have dance in the morning, I'm seeing my cousins in the afternoon, and I have a birthday party that night. Sunday I have dance again and then my week starts all over. Thank goodness we have a three day weekend coming up! This preview of my week may not seem like much to you but I am crazy tired already and my room is a mess which is driving me even crazier. I know that some of you have to go through something similar to my jampacked week all the time and to tell you the truth I have know idea how you handle all of that.

I can't wait for Christmas! I went shopping with my mom on Saturday and it really got me in the Christmas spirit. I picked out a couple Christmas presents for myself because my mom says I'm difficult to shop for. I'm most excited about the Taylor Swift songbooks because now I can learn all of Speak Now and Red on my flute! (Ha ha I 'm listening to Red right now) On our shopping excursion we also got make-up for my cousins, a book on sharks and a game for their younger brother, slipper socks and gloves for my uncle's girlfriend's daughters ( Yes I know that is confusing) and a dress for me for Christmas and fancy day. I love fancy day! I love how almost everyone dresses up because its like Christmas at school and everyone looks so nice. If it were up to me it would be fancy day everyday because I love wearing cute dresses and skirts but Laina thinks that it would be weird if I did that and I don't like to annoy her because she doesn't hide her opinions very well. Any way I am also so excited for Christmas because I got my family some awesome presents. For my dad Laina and I bought this wooden nose that holds glasses (similar to someone's face but minus everything but the nose) and a coffee mug that doubles as a mini golf putting green. The mug had an arch in the bottom where you hit the tiny ball into with the tiny golf club that doubles as a pen. For my mom we found these ceramic tye-dye looking bowls, it doesn't sound that cool but they are pretty awesome. I can't tell you what I bought Laina just in case she reads this. My favorite gift I bought was for my Uncle Bill, its a shirt with the little guy from school house rock who sings I'm just a bill and it says "I'm just a bill". I know he won't get the reference but I think he will find it funny.
More Christmas blogs are to come, considering this was kind of my idea and this is only my first. While most of you spent last Friday night with your friends or doing something fun with your family I was at dance. Now I don't normally have dance on Friday but this was different, it was an audition. At my dance studio we don't have a team like linnea's but we will have something similar soon. For ever show we combine all of the jazz classes together to have a big finale number. This year we aren't just performing at the show which is why we had to audition, ( We have to be committed) this year we are going to perform at a bunch of events. We aren't sure which ones yet but my dance teacher is going to look into the taste of Des Plaines, the taste of Park Ridge, Great America, Relay for Life and a Sky game. Two years ago we danced for the halftime show at the Sky game and we had a really good time which is how this whole idea came along. In case you didn't know Sky is Chicago's Professional Women's basketball team.
This year the dance snow's theme is Tv shows so my ballet class is Bugs Bunny and my jazz class is Batman. I'm really excited for Batman because we get to wear masks and we are trying to convince my teacher to get capes. The finale is a glee medley of Don't Stop Believein', Edge of Glory, Umbrella/ Singing in the Rain, and some other one I can't remember. For the audition we learned a part from the Don't Stop Believein' section in class and on Friday we learned a part from Umbrella/Singing in the Rain. We had numbers like on So You Think You Can Dance and they called us in by fours and the "judges" would ask us our names and how long we had been dancing. It was really fun because I knew three of the four judges really well but they pretended like they didn't know anybody. I was there with three of my friends and one of my friend's little sister but since there were five of us we were in two different groups. As I was watching my friends go before me me and my other friend were standing outside the door really nervous. I don't know why I was so nervous because before the audition the teachers told us that if we smile we make it, this was just for experience and fun. It was really fun, I don't find out until later when I have class today if I officially made it and I can't wait! This always holds true this time of the year. People don't keep their Thanksgiving decorations out longer than the day after Thanksgiving or they don't even have decorations to put out. Its different with Christmas decorations though, some people have those out from October until February. This year we decorated early for my house, Black Friday morning all of the boxes were out of the crawl space and the tree was being set up before I was even awake, and I got up at like 8:30. I had to wait forever to start decorating the tree because Laina wanted to help me but she woke up at 11 so I started with our gingerbread people. Every year up and down our staircase we place wooden gingerbread people with the name of each of our family members. We have added a bunch since we made the originals in whatever year I was in kindergarten, but we have only taken one away. Last year my uncle divorced my aunt but we still had her gingerbread so I asked my dad what to do with it. He told me to leave it in the bag, so I did, but this year it disappeared. No seriously neither of my parents know where it was and I certainly didn't do anything with it so I think we should just say its a Christmas miracle. Finally when Laina woke up she was to lazy to help me put up the ornaments so she 'helped' by taking the ornaments out of the box. This did nothing to help me what so ever and so I think its safe to say I decorated the tree by myself.
On another note I think we should do some fun Christmas things on our blog like post pictures of our favorite ornament or write about our favorite and least favorite Christmases. I realize I could just post those things but I think it would be more fun if all of us, or at least most of us posted them. I can't believe break is almost over, I planned to do so much and I accomplished just about nothing. Since most of my other days of break are boring to write about I"ll talk about Thanksgiving. Every year we go to my mom's older brother's house. Usually we go by the day before to chop up all the stuff that goes in the stuffing but this year my aunt told us not to come for some unknown reason. Even though I was kind of mad at her for breaking our tradition the stuffing did taste better when you didn't see the eighteen eggs put into stuffing of already pretty gross stuff. Anyway Thanksgiving was eventful and uneventful at the same time. It was uneventful because we didn't have a giant game of spoons like we normally do (never play spoons with knives, even plastic ones, we learned the hard way two years ago). It was eventful because almost everyone in my family talks forever and there was a lot of family gossip, one of my cousins had mono, another one was grounded indefinitely for a reason that I do not know and my cousin's grandpa had the flu and couldn't come. The food was delicious, I had two full plates of turkey, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, stuffing and bread biscuits. Now two plates might not seem like a lot but I loaded my plate to the fullest. I couldn't and didn't move for about an hour. Oh, I almost forgot, in the morning me and my dad watched the Bozo, Gar and Ray special on WGN, we watch it every year. I was surprised to learn that none of the friends that I talked to watch it or even heard of it. So I was wondering if anybody watched it or if you all think I'm crazy. To add on to the crazy I decided to share the following picture of a shirt I found on wanelo. It doesn't apply to me but I thought some of the boys might like it.
Since Jackie wanted to hear more I thought I would share some more stories from my adventure almost two weeks ago. What I first promised was that I would tell you about how I ended up in a gym locker. Now to us this sounds crazy because our gym lockers are so small I can barely fit my shoes in them. The ones at my friends school are HUGE! So anyway after I said this my friend's friend is really short and says "One time I went into one of these lockers to scare my friend" and I was thinking that maybe I could fit too. I did and my friend took a picture as proof, its on Instagram I think. After gym we were walking to study hall with another girl and we told her how I went into the locker, she is really funny and sarcastic and thought that the dean would have the sense of humor to think that it was funny to say that my friend put me in the locker. He was shocked and didn't catch the sarcasm, I had to step in and say I went in voluntarily. He is kind of a scary guy and I wouldn't have talked to him if I didn't think my friend might get in trouble. Since I started talking to him he decided to start a conversation with me. He asked me what other schools I was considering and I said the school where I'm actually going or here. He totally bought it but it was so scary! That haunted me for the rest of the day but was soon forgotten by my friend because she was so nervous for the musical audition after school. Her school was auditioning that day for Beauty and the Beast and all of her friends were trying out too. The day before almost 100 people tried out and were at school until five thirty so we wanted to get to the auditorium right after school. Even though it was one minute after the bell rang there was a huge line but her friend saved her a spot near the beginning. Her friend wanted to be a fork in Be My Guest but even though she made it she can't be a fork. Both my friend and her friend made it and are in ensemble which means they are townspeople and enchanted objects. Enchanted objects are the food or cooking utensils besides forks, spoons, knives or plates. I can't wait to go see the play! (It will probably become one of my posts!)
Last Tuesday we all had no school for election day. Whether you slept in, played minecraft all day or hung out with your friends you probably had a relaxing day. I on the other hand did not. I stated my morning a little before six to take a shower and get ready to shadow my friend at her high school. Now don't freak out I am going to the high school that most of you are going to, my friend just wanted to show me her school. It was such a fun day. It seems like it might be boring sitting through classes but I found it pretty interesting, I tried really hard to understand what the teachers were talking about. This was very difficult because first of all my friend is a junior and second of all some of the teachers were making it very hard to pay attention. The math teacher had like a lisp and wrote his fives like backwards sevens. The Spanish teacher held on the s at the end of words really long. The English teacher was good but not as good as you Mrs DLP, they were reading Hamlet and I thought it was supposed to be like the Lion King but I didn't really think so. By the end of the day I had learned barely anything, met all of my friend's friends and read a lot of my book. (Thank you Maura and Emily for having me read the Uglies, I would have been so bored without it.) I have already written so much but I have more to say so if you want to hear my encounter with the dean (the principal) or how I ended up in a gym locker leave a comment and that will be my next blog.
Friends is my favorite show ever. I was never much of a t.v. person but about a year and a half ago my cousins showed us Friends for the first time. Since then Laina and I have watched the entire ten seasons from the DVD set we bought two times, we started on our third over the weekend. We record Friends every time its on, on three different channels, its on TBS, WGN, and Nike at Nite. We can not go a day without watching an episode which I guess qualifies this as an addiction. Its such a great show because for the most part its just life but funnier and at times more dramatic. My mom thinks we are crazy because Laina and I say lines before they come because we know them so well. Its so much fun to start the series over again because you see how they set up for future events, how they change names of minor characters and the actors who play them. Laina and I are also always finding people form other shows on Friends because they have so many guest stars. All in all Friends is a great show so if you are ever channel flipping or just waiting for Doctor Who to start again watch a couple episodes of Friends and you will be hooked.
Music has been a popular topic on this blog so I thought I should continue with Taylor Swift. As you all know (Or most of you know) Taylor's new album came out last Monday. I was so excited and I was not disappointed, it wasn't as country as I would have liked but I love all the new songs. My favorite is Stay, stay, stay. But I also love Red, 22, The Lucky one and Begin Again. They are all so good I listened to the entire cd twice today.I have to say I am a really big Taylor Swift fan, I'm not saying I'm the biggest fan, it annoys me when people say they are the biggest fan. People have constantly been doing that with One Direction lately and it bugs me, who cares if you are the biggest fan, it isn't something to argue about. One thing that can't be argued is that I have like Taylor the longest (Compared to people I know). Some people started liking her when Fearless came out, more people started liking her when Speak Now came out and now almost every girl and some boys like Taylor now that Red has come out. I started liking Taylor in third grade, that was 2007, her first album came out in 2006. Since I have some what long term wisdom on Taylor Swift songs I have picked my top 5 songs from each album, not including Red, that was not released to radio. I'm pretty sure these weren't on the radio but I'm not positive, some of these songs you have probably never heard of. If you like Taylor's new album or just want to hear some good music, so look them up, they are really good! Taylor Swift (the album) -Cold as you -Tied together with a smile -The outside -Mary's song (Oh, my, my, my) -Stay beautiful Fearless -Fearless -Hey Stephen -Change (My all time favorite!) -Jump then fall -Untouchable Speak Now -Speak now (My 2nd favorite) -Long live -Better than revenge -Superman -The story of us I was trying to post yesterday but it wasn't really working so pretend its Sunday. Today my saint became a saint. I know that's a weird sentence to you but to me it makes perfect sense. The saint I picked for Confirmation wasn't officially a saint, she was just blessed which means she was in the process of becoming a saint. St. Kateri has become the first native american saint and her name will be added to my name. As most of you know you add the saint name like a second middle name, but mine won't be Kateri because that's her name in whatever native language she spoke, in English its Cathrine. i can't post my full name but I can tell you it sounds really good, which is a total plus because some people just pick the saint for the name but I just picked the one that was my favorite. Part of my reason for choosing her is I always wanted to be Pocahantas, I know that's a little shallow but what am I supposed to do, lie and say that wasn't one of the first things I thought of when I came across her. Most of you are probably bored or don't care but this was just a lead into what other special day this very special day leads to.
RED! YAY! Finally Taylor Swift's new album is coming out tomorrow!(Remember we are pretending its Sunday). I'm so excited I can barely contain myself! I haven't listened to any of the new songs on the cd besides we are never ever getting back together, I want to be surprised. I also want the actual cd, I know it's old fashioned but its more expensive on ITunes and if you buy the cd from Target it comes with six extra songs. The extra songs are great, most people probably don't know this but 'Ours' is an extra song from Speak Now. I hope I won't be disappointed but I doubt I will, and I'm hoping to have all of the songs memorized and have a favorite picked by Friday! I'm so excited! Ahhhhhhh! My next post will probably be about Taylor Swift again so if you don't like her then don't read it. (This relates to Maura's post, read it to see what I mean) |
