I recently found a game (well a flash game) called One Chance, and the name says it all. You play as a scientist (though you don't really get the feel for being one) and you find the cure for cancer. Next day, after it has been created, you find out that it kills all cells, and is spreading through the world. It is estimated hat all cells on earth will die within 3 days. The game is you deciding what to do at work and with your family for the next 3 days. I liked it, and I think its worth checking out if you have nothing to do. I hope you enjoy!

Reading Miracle In the Andes has got me wondering about flight. Interestingly enough, I was watching Smarter Every Day, and they were destroying snack foods, as a promotion for high speed cameras. At one point, they shot the side of a doughnut, but the camera also caught a fly getting blown around by the blast from the bullet. Here is the video. OK maybe not, as I can't figure out how the YouTube element works, but here is at least the link...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL5iTiJ8ZjI&list=PL71DC073CAFB0739C Anyway. The explanation I got, was that the fly, when hit with the blast, either is stunned, or has realized that struggle will make it worse. That way, the fly only flaps its wings enough to maintain altitude, but not right itself, its motion as it spins will eventually right it, and it flys off from there. Well, At least I thought this was interesting. It wasn't me... I promise. It was my sister and cousins, at my birthday party, now I know my birthday was in March, but my sisters is in May, so my parents place the party somewhere in April and say its for both of us, which I'm fine with because I try not to spend much of my time in the spotlight. Anyway, the party was just about over, and in a clever move to stay a while longer, my sister and two of my cousins went outside for a while. They ended up, like always, on the swing set, which is about 20 years old. while they were swinging, the beam holding up the three swings snapped with a crack (or so I'm told) and the began to sink in the direction of down as the beam gave more and more. Eventually it snapped in 1/2 down the middle leaving the middle swing still attached to both sides.(my mom now refers to these three individuals as lard-butts)this left me and my dad the job of taking off the swings, and removing the beam from the support beams on either side. I don't really have a way to explain how it was secured, but I'll try. first off, there were two 4x4s (on each end of the pole) stuck in the ground and notched out at the top. so the 4x4 beam could be suspended. Then the two beams and the 2 notched support beams were stuck together with a metal bolt, which might as well have been part of the wood. to get these bolts out, i had to hold the beam above my head ass my dad hit the bolts with a hammer to drive them out. Once they got to a certain point, he had to insert a smaller tube, and hit that in order to hit the bolt. That worked great until we got 3 out of four done. On the last one, my dad somehow got the smaller tube around the bolt, and made a second hole parallel to the bolt. he kept hitting until he had split the support beam farther from him. He then realized his mistake, said some naughty words, and proceed to be unable to pull the 2nd tube out. eventually, he managed to get the bolt out with a pair of locking pliers (it had a head for him to grab onto (the bolt that is)) and he spent a few minutes attempting to pull the tube out, after his success, my work was over and he went to the store to grab a 12 foot 4x6, which him and my mom installed. He also had to the fix the broken support beam, which he did by drilling a few pieces of metal into each of the broken 1/2s and drawing them together.
Thanks Lard-butts ;) I am a person who doesn't do much. Much of my day. is spent in front of the computer, playing, learning stuff, and doing homework. Most of my friends spend much of their time this way as well. Ask Chris and he can list of a youtube channel for just about anything science based. (my personal favorites are veritasium (I think thats how you spell it) and MinutePhysics) Besides gaming and generally messing around, I like to fence, read, and nap occasionally because of headaches. I lead a boring life don't I?
Does anybody have dogs here? Have they ever escaped? If they have Imagine that, but they have to be min your house. They are small, and they can be anywhere there head can fit... which is about the size of your thumb. Now if that's not enough. pretend your having 3 people over in 1/2 an hour, that all are afraid of that animal. Well that's what happened to me. My snake got out sometime over Saturday night, and we only noticed Sunday afternoon right before the Easter party. lucky for us, he just traveled out my door, under the piano, down along the wall, and finally into the front closet. How he found his way there I'm not entirely sure, but I am sure glad we found his. They say you would be lucky to find a snake if its been out for more than 24 hours, and that was getting close. Any, I'm still a little on my toes. can you tell?
Well here it is-
Happy: family photos helping my sister with math homework waking up in the morning with a purpose family dinners doing nothing all day Just plain ego boosting: beating my dad in pool beating Conor in anything Going 42/0 in DOTA2 helping my sister with math homework getting a 100 on my math test/quiz/even homework knowing something Franklin doesn't well that's all I have for now... I might do stuff later. Hello, Have you hear the news?
I placed 9th in a fencing tournament in Wisconsin, and before you all go "Nick, your my hero!" Please realize that there were only 11 entered in the tournament. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I am probably going back their again next year. There are also some more around here. There is even one in Park Ridge at the Fencing Center of Chicago, which in next door to the pediatrics center or whatever it is. I will try to tell you guys if I do anything amazing/decent!. If you can read this, I finally got it to work. Earlier I could get on Weebly, but couldn't post anything, because when I did, the whole window would either close or freeze, and when I exited it wouldn't even save to drafts. So lucky me if this works!
I hate cumulative exams. End of discussion. I have a problem, where I study everything I'm told to, but that doesn't seem to cover whats on the test. That paired with the fact that, no matter how much studying I've done, I always panic at the start of the test and forget everything. I also make stupid mistakes and forget negative signs... Sigh. Anyway, the latest version of this horrible condition happened on Friday with the math test. I had done 96 problems for study, which I thought was a good number, but I just couldn't get around that mental block at the start of the test. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if you do, Please tell me how to fix it, because its horrible.
Well, last week I posted something on the speed of my internet. Well, I was in luck, as recently my dad decided to cancel cable and get dish. Now to some of you, this may seem bad. For me, it isn't really. Instead of watching stuff live, which I rarely have the chance to do, I will instead use Netflix which has Dr.Who, and Mythbusters, basically all I will ever want. It will also save us somewhere near 60 bucks a month, and It also forces my parents to get a faster internet speed. DOUBLE BONUS FOR ME!
