It's more like under the magnifying glass.
I'm told holding a magnifying glass with sun shining through it can start a fire. This must be life under that magnifying glass. The last few weeks have been insanely hot, and I would know this from cross country. I can only be happy that we don't run on the track, because the heat just bounces up off the ground. Also, there's no shade whatsoever on the track. Lucky for us, though, we run in the forest.
Lately, I've been wanting to go outside. I want to play with Dusty and turn on the sprinkler, and go swimming or play badminton. It's just too hot! I played outside with Dusty for a little while, but after a while I got so tired I had to sit down. At about the same time, Dusty lumped over and stretched out under the chair that I was sitting on. She stayed there in the shade for a while, but then she got up and started walking towards the swing set we have in the yard. She walked up to the slide, and there was a little puddle on the bottom of it. She started drinking the puddle. I started laughing, and then realized the water was probably really dirty and unhealthy, plus it probably had mosquitos in it. Gross. I stopped her, and we both gladly went inside to our air conditioning. Dusty went right over to her water bowl and drank until it was gone. I like to take Dusty for walks, too, but Dusty can't go too far at all. Just think of walking outside in the sun and heat with a fur coat on, and you'll understand.
Usually, I just can't wait for the warm weather. This year, that warm weather took it's time getting here. It stayed cold and snowy for too long. Once the hot weather got here and I could wear shorts and a t-shirt, I was glad. Lately, it's been dangerously hot. The news has been saying that you shouldn't go outside a lot, and you shouldn't stay in the sun. The news also says that there's a "cold front" coming in. Well, even me, who loves spring and summer... I gotta say, I can't wait for that cold.
