Yesterday I went to great america's fright fest with some of my friends for my 13th birthday party. When we arrived it was raining, but most of the roller coasters were still working. We made are way around to the big drop, raging bull, x-flight, and many more. Later around lunch time the rain finally started to stop and we went on like all the other major rides they had there. Luckily since it had been raining there weren't too many people at the park. Therefore we were able to go on all of the roller coasters like 3 times because the lines were like only 15 minutes long. Finally around four o'clock the people dressed like monsters started to comes out. They were actually really scary and would try to chase you. The first time we saw them they actually started to chase us and all of us took off running. As the day went on Jenny and I weren't as afraid any more and we would just walk up and say hi, while our other two friends wouldn't go near them(especially the clowns who were extra freaky). The thing is if your scared of them they will chase you, but if you're not then they won't. One of my friends wanted to take a picture with this demon like guy, but he wouldn't take a picture with her. She got pretty mad that he wouldn't take a picture with her, but got over it later on. At the end of the day we were all exhausted from walking around all day and from going on so many roller coasters and rides. My friends also said that they didn't want to come to fright fest again because the monsters were so scary and they also would sneak up on you and then scream right in you ear, which would scare the heck out of most of us. Over all it was really fun going on all the rides and experiencing fright fest!
Over the weekend I got this weird video from one of my cousins in Canada. You know how people are always telling you not to give 100%, but 101%. Well this video proves how to give it your all. It shows you in a mathematical way (at least they say, to me it's not very mathematical) of thinking how to. Below I will post the video link. You can watch it if you like. If you do watch it you can skip to 43 seconds. That's where the part that I'm talking about starts. STOP READING NOW if you want to watch the video. If you don't want to watch the video, the video basically numbers each letter of the alphabet starting with A as 1, B as 2 C as 3, and so on. Then it spells out the word "Hard Work" and if you add the numbers of all the letters in hard work together it makes 98. So 98%. Then it spells the word "Knowledge" and it adds up to be 96%. Next it spells attitude and it equals 100%. Lastly is spells"Love of God" and it ends up being 101%. So basically the video is telling you that even though hard work and knowledge will get you close, and attitude will get you there, your love of god will get you over the top. This is just an interesting thought, I thought I would share with you.
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h60r2HPsiuM I don't know if you guys noticed, well most of you did because Ms. Walters announced it on Monday morning(if your in C of C math), but we are already 6 weeks through school! I can't believe it! It seemed like yesterday was only like the first week of school! Now that I think about it though we've already learned so many things in school. I don't know about you, but I've had two science tests(one being the safety test), two social studies quizzes going on three on Monday, one quiz and one test in Math(C of C), one Spanish project and one Spanish quiz, about three health tests, and a whole month of bottle rockets. We've even done MAP testing too! I don't even know how I remembered all those tests! I also still can't believe that the Washington D.C. trip is next weekend. I forget if any of you guys are going, but I just can't wait! When Mr. Nasshan explained the trip last year I thought it would be so much longer 'till we were going, but now it's right around the corner! I also can't wait 'till the weekend after that because I'm going to Great America Fright Fest with some friends for my birthday party! I've been on like every roller coaster/major ride there(even "X-Flight"). My favorite roller coaster is still Raging Bull! Any ways I still can't believe that half the trimester is already over and soon it's going to be time for us to graduate! I think this is going to be a really fun school year despite all the tests, homework, and studying we're going to be doing!
On Monday it wasn't a good day for me. It started off with a normal, tiring, Monday, school morning. Then after school I had to go to dance for two hours. We spent the entire class reviewing things because people weren't there the past week and so we had to catch them up. Another two boring hours of my day was wasted. Then right when class got out at 6:00pm it started to rain. Lucky for me I had to ride my bike home! I went around the corner to unlock my bike at the bike rack and it wouldn't open. I tried again three more times and then it finally opened! By then it was pouring out and the Thor guard had just rung. It was great biking weather! I got on my bike and started riding home. Later, when I got home I was soaked and dripping wet. I thought this day couldn't get any worse, but it did because I still had tons of homework to do. When I finished my homework it was 11:00 at night. I had to miss one of my favorite shows that was on that night to do homework.(The Voice). Then I remembered I had to wake up early the next day to go to orchestra. I had to go to orchestra on my 13th birthday! All I was hoping for that night, when I went to bed, was to have a better next day. Thankfully on Tuesday it wasn't nearly as bad as Monday! I even got to have my favorite type of birthday cake. It was mint-oreo ice cream cake form dairy queen. This weekend I'm gonna be dog sitting for my neighbors because they're going to one of their friend's lake house in Michigan. This is my first time dog sitting so I'm a little bit nervous, but also excited at the same time. They have two dogs one's a chihuahua and I think the other one is a mixed terrier, but I'm not sure. Today after school my sister and I went over to her house and she told us how much food both get, when to feed them, how much exercise they need, etc. She also gave us the house key and made sure we were able to lock the doors correctly and a bunch of other things. The chihuahua's name Guy, but is pronounced Gee and the terrier's name is Drewsilla. Drewsilla really likes me, but sometimes Guy can be crabby since he is very old and is almost totally blind. I feel bad for him because over the years his eye sight has gotten worse and now he bumps into walls a lot. My neighbor is paying my sister and I a total of $25. I think it's a lot since were only dog sitting them for about one and a half days. I can't wait to start dog sitting tomorrow. I'm so excited! Wish me luck!
On Saturday I went to the roller rink "Orbit" with my new neighbors. They just moved in about 3 months ago and have a son that's about 6 months younger than my little sister Annalise. When we arrived, there were people rollerblading every where even people who were waiting in line to get food, at the mini food court, had roller blades on. We sat down on a bench and started putting on our roller blades. Once everyone was ready we headed onto the actual roller rink. People of all ages were skating, some were even doing tricks in the middle of the rank like hand stands and standing on one leg. We just skated around the middle in a circle like everybody else did. At first I was a little wobbly, but after a while I was skating faster than everyone in my family,my neighbors, and most of the other people there. I even was able to roller skate with one leg up and when bending down so you're really close to the ground. on the other hand my little sister and my neighbor Vince were having a pretty hard time rollerblading since their only 7 and have never roller bladed before. Overall we had a fun time rollerblading and just getting to know them better. Maybe sometime in the future we will do this again when they actually know how to roller blade! Today we went blueberry picking in Michigan, but of course we were only there for about 45 minutes because it was burning hot out. We only filled one basket, but it was still a lot of blueberries. After my parents had payed, we finally got back to car where there was air conditioning. What a relief!
Next went to a Michigan dunes state park, which is basically a beach except that they had this tall pile of sand which is called a dune. As we were waiting in line to pay for a parking ticket, to get in, we saw a red flag and we didn't know what it meant. As we got closer to the flag we saw a sign that said rough waves no swimming. My sisters were mad when they found out that they couldn't swim, I was too. When our car finally reached the guy, who was selling the parking tickets, my dad asked him if we could still swim even if it was a red flag. The guy said that we could, but we had to stay near the shore and that it was at our own risk. We went swimming anyways because I'm a really good swimmer. It was fun swimming 'cause my sister had a small boogie board so we would catch a ride on the waves when they were right in front of us and the wave would bring us to the shore. Finally we had swam for hours and it was time to go, but there was still one thing that we still wanted to do. We wanted to climb the huge dune. It was really hard climbing up plus the sand was very hot. Finally we reached the top and we patted ourselves on the back for climbing up the dune. My family and I rested at the top for a while before going back down. On the way down I raced my sister to the bottom. I won. The rest of my family was still pretty much at the top and taking their time walking down the dune. When everybody got to the bottom it was time to really leave. On the way back to Chicago we were really hungry so we stopped at a McDonalds to pick up some food. The bill was a total of $40 dollars my dad couldn't believe it, but after all we did have six people and we had just gone swimming for two and a half hours. When we got home it was only 7:30pm, but we were really tired. That was the end of my one day trip to Michigan. I enjoyed it a lot even though it was only for a day. It was really fun! |
